Beneath the arch lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where an eternal flame has been relit every evening at 6:30pm without fail since 1923.

💡 盧浮宮最早是1190年建造的防禦堡壘，後來才改建為王宮。1989年貝聿銘設計的玻璃金字塔入口在當時引發巨大爭議，如今已成為盧浮宮的標誌之一。蒙娜麗莎本尊其實只有77x53公分，比很多人想象中小很多。The Louvre began life as a defensive fortress in 1190 before later being rebuilt into a royal palace. I. M. Pei's glass pyramid entrance, added in 1989, was hugely controversial at the time and is now one of the museum's most iconic features. The real Mona Lisa is only 77×53cm — much smaller than most people expect.

💡 這裡是小說《歌劇魅影》的故事原型場景，建築地下確實有一座蓄水池——當初是為了消防用水，後來被小說家寫成了「魅影的地下湖」。This building inspired the setting of The Phantom of the Opera — and there really is an underground reservoir beneath it, originally built for fire-fighting water, which the novel reimagined as the Phantom's subterranean lake.

💡 百貨公司中央那座新藝術風格的玻璃穹頂建於1912年，即使不買東西也可以免費入內參觀，穹頂下方常有節慶裝飾，聖誕期間尤其壯觀。The Art Nouveau glass dome at the store's center dates back to 1912, and you can walk in and admire it for free even if you're not shopping — it's often decorated for the season, especially spectacular around Christmas.

埃菲爾鐵塔Eiffel Tower

從特羅卡德羅廣場眺望，或直接走到鐵塔正下方Best viewed from Trocadéro Square, or walk right up underneath it

💡 1889年為世界博覽會而建，原本計劃展出20年後就拆除，後來因為可以架設無線電天線而被保留至今。夏天鐵塔因為鋼鐵熱脹冷縮，塔身會比冬天高出約15公分。Built for the 1889 World's Fair, it was originally meant to be dismantled after just 20 years — it was saved because of its usefulness as a radio transmission tower. On hot summer days, the iron structure expands and the tower actually stands about 15cm taller than it does in winter.

蒙馬特聖心堂Basilique du Sacré-Cœur

爬坡有點累，但登頂俯瞰巴黎全景值回票價The climb up is a bit tiring, but the panoramic view from the top makes it worth it

💡 教堂外牆使用一種叫「特拉維丁石」的石材，遇雨水會自動分泌方解石，讓外牆歷經百年風雨依然維持白色。整座教堂完全靠民間捐款建成，是普法戰爭後全民贖罪的產物。The basilica's façade is built from a special travertine stone that secretes calcite when it rains, which is why it has stayed strikingly white after more than a century of weather. It was funded entirely by public donations, built as a national act of penance after the Franco-Prussian War.
