房車旅行先從補給開始
我們先在 Fable Christchurch 住一晚，隔天取車時，原本預訂的 Britz 房車意外免費升級成 Maui。正式離開 Christchurch 前，先到 Pak’n Save 補齊食物和日用品；房車行程開始後，這些看似普通的採買會直接影響每晚是否輕鬆。
Fairlie 的鮭魚派是路上最好用的一站
前往 Lake Tekapo 途中，我們在 Fairlie 小鎮停下，到 Fairlie Bakehouse 吃鮭魚派。這一站不需繞出很遠，又能把長途駕駛切成兩段，比抵達營地後才匆忙找午餐更順。
傍晚再訪 Church of the Good Shepherd 好牧羊人教堂，之後入住湖邊的 Lakes Edge Holiday Park。第一天不安排高強度活動，讓我們有時間熟悉車內設備和營地節奏。
真正的驚喜在天黑之後
夜裡抬頭，銀河和密集星光比預期清楚。冬季低溫確實增加了在戶外等待的難度，但黑暗天空也令這晚成為行程第一個大驚喜。想拍星空，先把保暖和相機操作準備好；最好的畫面往往不會等人在黑暗中慢慢研究設定。
A campervan trip begins with supplies
We spent a night at Fable Christchurch before collecting our vehicle, where our original Britz booking received an unexpected free upgrade to a Maui campervan. Before leaving Christchurch, we stocked up at Pak’n Save. Once life moves into the vehicle, that ordinary supermarket stop has a direct effect on how easy each campsite evening feels.
Breaking the drive in Fairlie
On the road to Lake Tekapo, we stopped at Fairlie Bakehouse for its salmon pie. Fairlie divided the drive without requiring a large detour, making it a more useful lunch stop than arriving at the campsite hungry and immediately searching for food.
By evening, we had returned to the Church of the Good Shepherd and checked into Lakes Edge Holiday Park beside the lake. Keeping the first day physically easy also gave us time to understand the campervan and settle into the campsite routine.
The surprise after dark
Once night fell, the Milky Way and dense field of stars were much clearer than we expected. Winter cold made standing outside harder, but the dark sky produced the first major surprise of the trip. Anyone hoping to photograph it should prepare warm layers and camera settings before stepping into the dark; the best conditions are easier to use when you are not learning the controls with numb hands.

國際暗空保護區，肉眼可見銀河An International Dark Sky Reserve where the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye
💡 這裡是全球最大的國際暗空保護區之一。湖水呈現出不真實的土耳其藍色，是因為冰川磨出的「岩粉」懸浮在水中，陽光散射後才形成這種特殊色澤。Lake Tekapo sits within one of the largest International Dark Sky Reserves in the world. Its unreal turquoise color comes from "rock flour" — fine glacial sediment suspended in the water that scatters sunlight into that distinctive hue.

💡 教堂建於1935年，由當地早期墾荒的牧場主們出資興建，紀念先驅移民。祭壇後方特意不裝彩繪玻璃，而是留一扇清澈的窗，讓湖光山色直接成為背景。Built in 1935, funded by the region's early sheep station owners as a memorial to the pioneer settlers. The altar window was deliberately left as plain glass rather than stained glass, so the lake and mountains beyond become the backdrop.
