一個距離非常進取的移動日
這天從 Lake Tekapo 開往 Fox Glacier 福克斯冰川，途中經過 Lindis Pass、Lake Hawea 和 Bruce Bay。兩天累計超過 800 公里，意味著不少畫面都是在長時間駕駛之間搶回來的。這種排法能看很多地方，代價則是停留和休息都被壓縮。
天氣預報不理想，活動仍然成行
冰川直升機健行和高空跳傘都依賴天氣。預報說可能下雨，我們仍按原定安排到場，最後幸運完成跳傘。不過這不是「壞天氣也可以照飛」的保證；是否出發仍應交給營運團隊判斷，行程也要接受臨時取消的可能。
從 Lonely Tree 到 Queenstown
傍晚抵達 Lake Wanaka，找到湖中的 Lonely Tree。它本身只是一棵孤零零站在水裡的樹，配上湖面和遠山後，卻很容易構成安靜的畫面。之後沿 Crown Range Road 前往 Queenstown，晚餐吃了需要排隊的 Fergburger。
Fox Glacier 與 Wānaka 之間的長途移動，是這集除了風景以外最需要留意的部分。影片記錄了這次走法，但不建議以複製單日里程為目標；拆開住宿與駕駛日，會更容易安排休息。
An extremely ambitious transfer day
We drove from Lake Tekapo towards Fox Glacier, passing Lindis Pass, Lake Hawea and Bruce Bay. Covering more than 800 kilometres across two days meant that many of these sights were fitted between long stretches behind the wheel. The route delivered variety, but at the cost of short stops and limited rest.
Weather-dependent plans at Fox Glacier
Both a glacier helicopter experience and skydiving depend on suitable conditions. Rain was in the forecast, but we still reported for the activities and were fortunate that the skydive went ahead. That does not mean poor weather can be ignored: the operator must make the final decision, and any itinerary built around flying needs to tolerate cancellation.
The Lonely Tree and Crown Range Road
By evening, we reached Lake Wanaka and found its Lonely Tree standing in the water. It is a remarkably simple subject, but the surrounding lake and mountains turn it into a quiet, balanced scene. We then crossed Crown Range Road into Queenstown and queued for dinner at Fergburger.
The long drive between Fox Glacier and Wānaka deserves as much attention as the scenery. The video records our route, but matching its daily mileage should not be the goal; splitting the drive across overnight stops makes room for rest.

💡 冰川以19世紀紐西蘭總理威廉·福克斯爵士命名，他曾在1872年造訪此地。近年來因氣候變化，冰川正快速消退，過去十年間後退了相當可觀的距離。Named after Sir William Fox, a former Premier of New Zealand who visited the glacier in 1872. In recent years it has been retreating rapidly due to climate change, losing a significant amount of length over the past decade.

💡 這棵柳樹其實不是刻意種植的，而是1930年代一根圍欄木樁意外生根發芽長成的，完全是大自然的意外之作，如今卻成了紐西蘭被拍攝最多次的樹。The tree wasn't deliberately planted — it grew from an old fence post that took root sometime in the 1930s. A complete accident of nature that's since become one of New Zealand's most photographed trees.
