先在 Lake Tekapo 上方吃午餐
早上來到約翰山天文臺旁的 Astro Café。咖啡館的位置比餐點本身更難取代：坐在高處，Lake Tekapo 和四周山景直接成為午餐背景。若後面還要健行，這一站適合停留補充體力，但不要因拍照而把出發時間拖得太晚。
Hooker Valley Track 比預期花更久
接著開車前往 Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park，挑戰約 10 公里的 Hooker Valley Track。路線沿途經過吊橋、雪山和冰河景色，終點則是漂著冰塊的冰川湖。景色會一路變化，不是只有終點才值得看。
官方參考時間約三至四小時，我們在冬季實際走了五至六小時。拍照、路況、體力和日照都會拉長行程，因此回程時間不能只用最快數字計算。保暖層、飲水和足夠時間，比趕著完成步道更重要。
晚上入住 Glentanner Park Centre 營地。把咖啡館和健行放在同一天雖然風景密度很高，但核心仍應是步道；午餐之後的安排愈簡單，愈能安心走完回程。

We began beside Mount John Observatory at Astro Café, where the location is harder to replace than anything on the menu. From this height, Lake Tekapo and the surrounding mountains become the backdrop to lunch. It was a useful place to refuel before a hike, although lingering too long over photographs would have eaten into the more important daylight later.
Hooker Valley took us longer than expected
We then drove to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park for the roughly 10-kilometre Hooker Valley Track. Swing bridges, snow-covered peaks and glacial scenery change throughout the route, ending at a lake with ice floating near the far end. The walk is not a case of enduring an empty approach for one final photograph.
The published estimate is around three to four hours; in winter, we took five to six. Photographs, trail conditions, fitness and limited daylight can all extend the day, so the fastest estimate should not determine your return time. Warm layers, water and a generous schedule mattered more than finishing quickly.
We spent the night at Glentanner Park Centre. Pairing the café and hike created an exceptionally scenic day, but the track should remain the priority. Keeping everything after lunch simple gave us the space to complete the return without rushing.

💡 沿途要跨越三座搖晃的吊橋，終點胡克湖直接由胡克冰川融水注入，湖面常常能看到漂浮的小冰塊，是紐西蘭最容易到達的冰川湖之一。The track crosses three swaying swing bridges along the way. Hooker Lake at the end is fed directly by meltwater from the Hooker Glacier, and small icebergs often drift on its surface — one of New Zealand's most accessible glacial lakes.
